Outline of Syllabus

Yoga History, Philosophy +Lifestyle +Ethics: 30 hours 

Dive into the history of yoga philosophies + ethics to create a strong understanding + foundation for the practice as well as understanding what it means to embody a positive yoga lifestyle. 

In order to begin and manifest a positive journey as a yogi/yogini and instructor, you must first learn the roots of yoga and learn how to apply them to your lifestyle. 

Some examples of what will be studied: 

Patanjali Yoga Sutras 

The 8 Limbs of Yoga- Yamas + Niyamas 

Bhagavad Gita (to be read within the course of the training)

Ethics of yoga- which include professionalism as a yoga teacher and practitioner, implementing the 8 limbs of yoga within a class setting as well as within your personal life, etc. You will learn how to create a safe and inviting space for your students as well as learn to implement proper and respectful boundaries.

Yoga Techniques + Training + Practical Application: 105 hours

The majority of your time in YTT will be dedicated to this category. 

Within these 110 hours you will learn the following: 

·     Asana (pose/posture)

·     Pranayama (life force/breath work)  

·     Chanting (the sacred chant of OM plus 3 more sacred chants) 

·     Sanskrit (speaking + writing practice + teaching skills) 

·     Meditation (for self-practice + teaching skills)

·     Mantras (for self-practice + teaching skills) 

·     Mudras (for self-practice + teaching skills) 

With a brief introduction of the following to expand your knowledge, experience + interests: 

·     Restorative                              

·     Pre-natal 

·     Yoga Nidra 

·     Yin Yoga

 

By dedicating asana clinics within the 105 hours of practical training + application, you will have the opportunity to dissect each asana so that you not only feel comfortable and confident in guiding students safely + effetely through their practice but you will also be able to provide counter indications + benefits for each asana. 

Anatomy + Physiology : 20 hours

Foster a solid foundation and build confidence in not only your own practice but in your ability to teach by dedicating 20+ hours to studying the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the energetic system. By applying these studies to the practice of yoga, the student will then be able to teach with a heightened awareness and be able to facilitate a healthy, safe practice while providing the student with knowledge on their body/practice. 


Teaching Methodology : 20 hours

The importance of having a firm grasp on the following teaching methodologies can profoundly enhance your teaching abilities: 

·      Teaching style + etiquette + qualities

·      Demonstrations + adjustments + enhancements

·      Observation + assistance 

·      Professionalism + preserving the “always a student” mentality  

·      Energy + boundaries 

 

Practicum : 15 hours

In the practicum portion of the training, you will have the opportunity to put together your studies and transform them into reality. 

The following will be practiced: 

·      Assisting + observing other instructors in class

·      Guiding + partnering + practicing with other Ignite YTT students 

·      Building strong personal practice 

·      Mandatory demonstration of a sequenced Vinyasa Flow 

·      *not eligible for graduation without final student practicum 

 

The Business of Yoga + Social Media Influence : 6 hours

Implement positive ethics + practices in regards to generating your yoga business as well as social media appearance while remaining grateful + humble to

yourself + keeping the integrity of yoga.

Completion + Graduation + Certification Requirements- total of 200 hours 

Your mind + body will absorb all the above information by applying methodical, practical + analytical training on how to teach as well as practice above techniques.

Upon completion of Ignite YTT, Yoga Alliance requirements, financial commitments + successful graduation, you will have learned the necessary procedures and techniques as well as a heightened level of confidence as the role of a teacher and a student. 

Ignite YTT will provide you with a certificate of completion in which you will be able to then submit a request to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level (RYT 200hr). 

Being registered through Yoga Alliance will allow you to use their credentials + RYT logo on your personal business cards + promotional/marketing materials. 

You will also be recognized through their worldwide online directory/website. 

These aspects will only benefit your probabilities on being hired as a yoga teacher (many studios require you to be registered through Yoga Alliance) as well as gain reputable exposure.
